How many photos do I need for a team slideshow?
Tell us how many children are on the team and how long the video will be. You get the number of photos to collect, and how many to ask each family for.
- Ask each family for
- 6 photos of their child
- Photos to collect in total
- 180
- Photos in the video
- 59
- Every child appears at least
- 2 times
For three appearances each, with room for team photos, choose about 4:15.
That is more than the free plan’s 150 photos; Team holds 2,000. Start collecting early in the season, so every child has time to reach the target before the presentation night.
How it works
A slideshow shows one photo every 2.5 to 4.5 seconds, depending on the pace. The title card, a short card for each chapter, a roll call of every name and the credits take some of the time too: about half a minute for a team of fifteen. What is left decides how many photos fit.
Fairness comes first. Every child gets the same minimum number of appearances, two by default and three when there is still room for team photos and highlights. Only then do the best remaining shots fill the gaps.
Collect about three photos for every one that makes the video. Some will be blurry, some will be near-duplicates from a burst, and some will simply not be the best moment. That is where the number for each family comes from.
Let Galamento do the counting
Share one link and parents add photos all season. The coverage list shows who still needs photos, and the video is built fairly for the presentation night.

Why collect three times as many photos as the video shows?
Because many photos will not make the cut: bursts of the same moment, blurry action shots and photos where a child is hidden. Three to one gives enough choice to pick a good photo of every child.
Do group photos count for every child in them?
Yes. A team photo tagged with every child counts toward each child's appearances, which is why huddles and team photos are so useful.
What if one family sends hundreds of photos?
Volume from one family does not help the children who are short. Ask for a few photos of every child instead. The free plan holds 150 photos, which is plenty for a small team if families pick their best ones.
