Child safety statement

How Galamento is designed to protect the children in every season, and what we do when someone reports a concern.

Draft: requires owner review. This page is a working draft and not yet legal advice. Items marked “Owner to complete” are still missing.

Every season on Galamento is full of photos of children. Protecting them comes before every other goal. We design to the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, which also prepares us for Australia's Children's Online Privacy Code.

How the product protects children

  • No face recognition, ever. No face detection, face embeddings or biometric matching anywhere, by us or by any provider.
  • First names only. No surnames, dates of birth, schools or contact details for children.
  • Private by default. Seasons are only reachable through a long, random link, with an optional PIN. They never appear in search engines or a public gallery, and every season page tells search engines not to index it.
  • Consent respected. The organiser can mark a child "no photo consent". That child never appears in any video, Family Reel or thumbnail, and their photos are hidden from other families.
  • Location removed from every photo on the uploader's phone, before upload.
  • Automatic safety check. Photos that look inappropriate for a youth sports setting, such as photos taken in changing rooms, are hidden automatically before anyone sees them.
  • Reporting. Any parent can report a photo; it is hidden at once until the organiser decides.
  • Adults only. Only adults may create seasons, add photos or buy a Family Reel, and each confirms on screen that they are 18 or older before they do. Children do not have accounts.
  • No advertising, no tracking pixels, and no use of photos to train AI.

When someone reports a concern

  1. Reports sent through report a concern or to abuse@galamento.com are read before any other email, within [Owner to complete: target response time for concerns, for example 24 hours].
  2. We hide any content that may put a child at risk while we look into it.
  3. Where a child may be in danger, or the law requires it, we report to the police or the relevant authority in the country concerned and preserve the evidence they need.
  4. We tell the person who reported what we did, unless that would put a child at risk or the law prevents it.

Clubs and organisers

Galamento supports, but does not replace, your club's safeguarding policy. Organisers should follow their club's procedures and involve the club's welfare or safeguarding officer when something worries them.
