End-of-season soccer banquet slideshow for youth teams

Collect a whole fall or spring season of soccer photos through one link and turn them into a banquet slideshow where every player gets equal screen time.

Youth soccer seasons in the US run in short, intense bursts. A fall season might be ten games between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, with a tournament weekend squeezed in, and the end-of-season party or banquet arrives before anyone has organized the photos. Recreational teams often celebrate with pizza and trophies at a park; travel and club teams book a room and a projector. Either way, a slideshow is the moment the kids remember.

What follows is a plan for a team parent who wants the slideshow done without a late night, and without a single player left out.

Timeline for a soccer season

  1. Picture day or the first game

Send the season link with your first team email. Ask families to add photos within a day or two of each game while they still remember which ones are good.

  2. Halfway through the season

Open the coverage list. In youth soccer the forwards get photographed and the defenders and keepers get forgotten. Send the reminder naming whoever is short.

  3. Tournament weekend or playoffs

Three games in two days, new jerseys, team chants and medals. Remind parents the night before that the link is still open.

  4. The week before the banquet

The photo deadline closes uploads. Review the first cut one evening, export, and you are done well before the party.

From photos to slideshow

  1. Create the season in two minutes

Enter the team name, the banquet date and the deadline, then paste the roster with first names and jersey numbers. Jersey numbers matter in soccer because many photos are action shots from behind or from a distance, and a clearly printed number helps tag the right player.

  2. Handle photo permissions up front

If a family has not given photo consent, mark that player before you share the link. Their photos stay out of the video and hidden from other families.

  3. Paste the message into the team chat

Use the ready-made text in the group chat or team app you already use for practice changes. Parents choose their child, pick photos, and can tag teammates who are in the shot too.

  4. Watch the coverage, not the total

A team of fourteen needs every player to reach the target, not one family uploading three hundred photos. The coverage list colors each child by how close they are; aim to have everyone green before the deadline.

  5. Review chapters and export

Game days become chapters automatically. Rename them ("Fall Classic", "Playoffs"), remove any photo a family would not want shown, and export the final video.

How long should a soccer banquet video be?

For a recreational team of 10 to 14 players, three to four minutes is plenty: every child appears at least three times, the team photo opens and closes the video, and the kids are still watching at the end. Travel teams with 16 to 18 players can go to four or five minutes.

If several age groups share one banquet, keep each team's slideshow under four minutes and play them between award presentations rather than back to back.

Choose one track with a steady, upbeat tempo for the action chapters. The Pitch style uses bold stripes and team-colored titles, and cuts land on the beat.

Banquet checklist

Before the party

  • Download the video to the device you will play it from.
  • Check the room: projector, screen, speaker and a long enough cable.
  • Have trophies or medals ready to hand out right after the slideshow while the energy is high.
  • Ask the coach to say one sentence about the season before you press play.
  • Send the private share link to families that evening.

Privacy and safeguarding

Faces are never scanned or recognized. Children are matched to photos by the tags their families add and the numbers on their jersey. Only first names are stored, location data is removed on the phone before upload, the season’s link is private and never appears in search engines, and anything inappropriate for a youth sports setting is hidden automatically. Any parent can report a photo, and the organizer has the final say on every photo in the video.

Questions from team parents

Our coach takes most of the photos. Can they upload too?

Yes. Anyone with the link can add photos. The coach can choose "just a supporter" instead of picking a child and tag players on each photo or batch.

Can we include the team's end-of-season party in the video?

If the party happens before the deadline, yes. Many teams show the slideshow at the party itself, so the party photos go into a family reel or a second video instead.

What happens if a player only has two photos?

They still appear, using every good photo there is, and the coverage list warns you early enough to ask for more. Group photos and team huddles also count toward each tagged child.

Can each family get a video of just their child?

Yes. Family Reels are short videos of one child for phones. On Team seasons families can buy their own; on Team Plus every family gets one included.
