Volleyball is a sport of huddles. After every point the team comes together, hands in, then breaks apart for the next serve. Those moments make wonderful photos, and so do the digs, the blocks at the net and the bench jumping up after a long rally. The challenge for the banquet slideshow is that gyms are dim, the action is fast, and the hitters at the net get far more attention than the libero or the setter.
Whether you are the team parent for a school team that finishes in November or a club team that plays into spring, this guide keeps the work small and the result fair.
Season timeline
The first match or club tryout weekend
Share the season link with the team's schedule. Ask parents to add photos after each match or tournament day.
First tournament
Club tournaments mean long days in big convention halls, many matches and lots of downtime. Ask parents to capture the team between matches too: warm-ups, team meals, the bracket board.
Halfway point
Check coverage. Middle blockers and outside hitters tend to have plenty; liberos, setters and defensive specialists often do not. Use the reminder for those still short.
After the last tournament
Set the deadline a week before the banquet and review the first cut in one evening.
Building the slideshow
Create the season
Add the team name, banquet date and photo deadline, then paste the roster with first names and jersey numbers. Volleyball numbers are on the front and back of the jersey, which helps tag photos taken across the net.
Set consent flags
Mark any player whose family has not given photo consent before you share the link. Their photos are hidden from others and never used.
Share once, pin the message
Paste the ready-made message into the team chat and pin it. Parents choose their player once on their phone and upload whenever they like.
Tag the whole huddle
Encourage parents to tag every player in huddle and celebration photos. One good huddle photo counts toward six players.
Review and export
After the deadline, the dark and blurry gym shots are scored down, bursts are grouped, and every player reaches the minimum number of appearances. Rename tournament chapters, then export.
Volleyball moments to ask for
Volleyball has rituals that photograph beautifully. Before each set, teams form a circle and stack hands; after every point, players gather for a quick huddle and high fives. The line-up for the national anthem at school matches, and the walk along the net to slap hands with the other team, show every player at once. Club tournaments add team tents in the convention hall, matching warm-up shirts and the bracket board with your team's name written in. For the libero, ask for photos of a dig or a pass in serve receive, when they are low to the floor and the camera can catch their face. Seniors often get a framed photo or a poster on senior night; include those photos too.
How long should a volleyball banquet slideshow be?
Volleyball rosters are 10 to 15 players. Three to four minutes gives each player three or four appearances with room for huddles and team photos. School programs with varsity, JV and freshman teams at one banquet should make one short video per team, about three minutes each.
Song length plannerFit your photos to the music, song by song. The Rink style suits indoor sports, with high contrast and quick cuts. For a senior night style ending, mark your seniors so their tribute plays last.
Banquet checklist
Before the banquet
- Download the MP4 and test it on the screen you will use.
- Bring a speaker if the venue does not have one; gym acoustics swallow sound.
- Agree with the coach when to play the video in the program.
- Keep the lights low near the screen.
- Send the private share link to families afterwards.
Privacy and safeguarding
Faces are never scanned or recognized. Children are matched to photos by the tags their families add and the numbers on their jersey. Only first names are stored, location data is removed on the phone before upload, the season’s link is private and never appears in search engines, and anything inappropriate for a youth sports setting is hidden automatically. Any parent can report a photo, and the organizer has the final say on every photo in the video.
Volleyball parent questions
Most photos are from the bleachers behind the end line. Will that work?
Yes. Shots from behind the end line show serves and blocks well. The selection balances them with closer bench and huddle photos.
Our club season runs from November to April. Is one video enough?
One video can cover the whole season, with each tournament weekend as a chapter. Teams that want a mid-season video can create a second season.
Can the libero's different jersey cause tagging problems?
No. Tags come from parents and the roster, so a different jersey color does not matter. If the libero's number differs from their usual one, tags still work.
Can families get their own player's video?
Yes, as a Family Reel: a short video of one player for phones, bought per child on Team seasons and included on Team Plus.
