Youth football teams are large and their seasons are packed into a few autumn months. A tackle team can carry 25 to 35 players, a flag team fewer, and the banquet usually lands in November or early December, between the last game and the holidays. Helmets and pads make players hard to recognize in photos, which is one reason so many team slideshows feature the quarterback and the running back over and over while linemen barely appear.
This guide is for the team parent who wants the banquet slideshow to honor every player, from the starting center to the kid who played special teams and cheered loudest on the sideline.
Football season timeline
Summer camp and equipment day
Share the link at the start. Helmet-off photos from camp and picture day are gold: they are the shots where everyone can see who is who.
Week three or four
Check coverage. Linemen, special teams and backups will lag behind skill positions. Ask a few parents to photograph the line before the snap, when everyone is still.
Homecoming, rivalry game or playoffs
The emotional games make the best chapters: the tunnel run, the post-game huddle, the scoreboard. Remind parents the night before.
Ten days before the banquet
Set the photo deadline. Playoff runs can push close to the banquet, so leave room for one last weekend of uploads.
How to build it
Set up the season with numbers
Paste first names with jersey numbers. In football the number is the single best way to identify a player in a helmet, so include numbers for every player, and make sure they match what players actually wear.
Flag any player without consent
Leagues usually collect photo permission at sign-up. Mark anyone who opted out before sharing the link; their photos stay hidden and out of the video.
Ask for sideline and helmet-off moments
When you share the link, ask families for photos where faces are visible: warm-ups, the sideline, post-game handshakes. They make the slideshow feel personal, not just a highlight reel.
Work the coverage list by position group
With thirty players, go through the list after each game. Copy the reminder for the players still short and post it in the parents' group.
Review the first cut
Each game day becomes a chapter. Every player gets the same minimum appearances, then the best action shots fill the rest. Swap photos, rename chapters with opponents or game names, and export.
How long should the banquet video be?
Big rosters need more time. A tackle team of 30 players appearing at least twice each, plus team shots, needs about five and a half to six minutes. A flag team of 10 to 12 fits in three to four minutes.
If the whole league or program meets at one banquet, keep each team to about four minutes and let the head coach introduce it. You can test numbers for your roster here.
How many photos do I need?Photos to collect for your team size and video length. The Pitch style has bold titles and stripe motifs that suit football. Choose a driving, energetic track for the game chapters; seniors or eighth-graders moving up get a gentler tribute at the end on paid plans.
Banquet checklist
Before the banquet
- Download the video file; do not stream it over the venue's wifi.
- Check the projector, the screen size and the sound in the actual room.
- Agree the running order with the head coach: slideshow before awards works well.
- Have the team captains ready to say a few words after the video.
- Send the private link to families that night.
Privacy and safeguarding
Faces are never scanned or recognized. Children are matched to photos by the tags their families add and the numbers on their jersey. Only first names are stored, location data is removed on the phone before upload, the season’s link is private and never appears in search engines, and anything inappropriate for a youth sports setting is hidden automatically. Any parent can report a photo, and the organizer has the final say on every photo in the video.
Questions from football parents
Can cheerleaders who cheer for our team be in the video?
If they are part of the same program and their families agree, add them to the roster so they are counted like every player. If not, they can still appear in crowd and sideline shots.
Our team has two jersey colors with the same numbers. Does tagging still work?
Yes. Matching uses the number, not the color, and parents' tags always take priority.
Do we need a paid plan for 30 players?
A roster this size usually produces more photos than the free plan's 150. Team allows 2,000 photos, full HD export and a senior tribute.
Can the coaches have a section?
Coaches can be included in group photos. Use chapter captions to thank them, or add a short closing chapter of coach and team photos.
